We summarize results from the empirical analysis of networks generated from the EU Framework Programs (FPs) on Research and Technological Development. We describe the definition of the networks from available data on the FPs. We briefly summarize the Netzcope program used in visualizing the networks. Three major types of analysis of the FP networks are presented: analysis of the spectral properties of the graph Laplacians, use of l-shell portraits, and determination of community structure. The presented results are a representative sample of the work undertaken, but by no means a comprehensive view of all outputs.
